No date, circa 1920-1930. Back has printer's mark: Crescent Printing Co., Hoboken, N.J. (this company is known to have been in operation in the 1920s.)

Printed card, 3-1/4" x 5-1/2" wide; divided back; unposted and unused.

The front side of the card with photographic view of the building once at the southwest corner of River and Fourth Streets has two signs. The one to the left facing River St. is a Dutch language sign and the one at the right facing Fourth Street is in English.

The building seen at the southwest corner of River and Fourth Streets is correctly addressed as 334 River Street, although the address for this charity is usually stated or shown as 332 River St., one building south from the corner seen in this photograph. See notes.

Notes Various names have been used for this organization:

- Holland Seaman's House at 332 River St.; 1923 Hopkins Atlas plate 1 has it named this way on the map and as the building to the south of the building seen on the postcard.

- Holland Seamen Home & Immigration Bureau at 332 River St.; 1926 Polk Directory.

- Dutch Seamen (or Seamen's) Home and the address as 332 River St: Biographies and references about artist Willem de Kooning (it was where he stayed when he first arrived in Hoboken as a stowaway in 1926.)

An earlier location cited by John Gomez (in work on de Kooning and Hoboken) was 310 Hudson St., Hoboken.

- Holland Seamen's Mission.
