Scope & Content Telegram to "the men and women of Keuffel & Esser Co., Hoboken" from Rear Admiral G.F. Hussey, Jr., U.S.Navy, Chief of the Bureau of Ordnance, Washington, D.C., May 22, 1945 re use of K&E equipment aboard ships at Okinawa. Color photocopy of original; original not present.

A World War II message of congradulations to K&E employees who made a wide range of equipment for the U.S. Navy. This copy was apparently sent internally to a Mary Rotar. The "701-1" was a factory department designation.

The communication was part of Navy's efforts related to civilian morale, productivity and maintaining standards of excellence. See 2010.073.0001 for another telegram on a similar topic.

The telegram concerns two range finders used by anti-aircraft guns aboard two destroyers (not identified) near Okinawa: KEUFFEL AND ESSER RANGE FINDERS - MARK 12 MOD[el?] 27 SERIAL NO 757; MARK 42 MOD 13 SERIAL NO 527. The two ships were credited with 19 and 15 kills of Japanese planes in a single action.
