Railroad pass: Erie Lackawanna Railway Company, good for years 1973-1977. Blank, unissued; inkstamped: CANCELLED.
Printed paper 2-1/2" high x 4" wide. Serial no. A 1050. Background has a large faint "73" printed on front indicating first year of valid issue.
"Good until Dec. 31, 1977."
"Thomas F. Patton and Ralph S. Tyler, Jr. Trustees." (The Erie Lackawanna filed for bankruptcy in June of 1972. Patton and Tyler were confirmed as Trustees in August.)

Note the differences between this pass and pass 1 in archives 2013.005.0198 where there is additional printed text above "Date Issued" about countersignatures. The blank pass here lacks that text as well as lacking the facsimile signature (which would have been G.W. Maxwell) of the President and Chief Executive Officer at the lower right.
Transportation passes for employees, current and retired, and their families were traditional and, although not stated, probably an entitlement as part of union agreements / contracts with the railroad.
Erie Lackawanna Railroad was renamed Railway in 1968.
