|Scope & Content||
Booklet: Rules for Crane Operations, Crane Directors, Hook-up Men and Repairmen. Issued by Subsidiary Companies of Bethlehem Steel Corporation, [no place], 1942. Stiff printed green covers, 3-1/2" wide x 5-3/4" high, 28pp., drawings.
This item is not from Hoboken, but it is an example of a typical booklet that would have been issued to appropriate employees of the Bethlehem Steel Company's Hoboken Shipyard which would have been a subsidiary company. They operated it from 1938-1982 and cranes were an integral part of the operations both inside the shops and on the piers adjoining the dry docks.
Page 27 has a certification form for an employee to detach and fill in acknowledging receipt and understanding of the book. It is present and blank presumably indicating that this particular copy was unissued.
