Held as an example of decorative stationery used in correspondence of the period as well as showing the oriental influence in decorative arts in that era.
Also noteworthy for the not untypical manner in which a correspondent made note of their reply. Townsend has recorded at the left: Ans.[Answered] Ap. 3rd 1878.
