1925 Jersey City Street Guide; Including Hoboken, Bayonne and Patterson. Eleventh Edition.
Issued by H.L. Giles, M.D., 327 Grove St., Jersey City, N.J.
Booklet, 3" wide x 5-1/8" high, 48 pp. plus covers. No maps. Darkened and brittle. Only selected pages have been imaged.
Information about the streets of the listed cities consists of street name and where it runs from and to plus the nearest car [streetcar] line. Hoboken is found on page 24 with just bare information.
This publication appears to be a stock item that was customized for the publisher Giles. A linecut portrait of him appears on the inside front cover; a depiction of the corner building with his upper floor offices is on page
About half of the pages are taken up with promotion of the Doctor's services and cautionary text (and explicit) about diseases all of which he apparently offered to treat, if not cure. Some testimonials appear.
Page and inside back cover have directions from New York to his office using the Hudson Tubes (Hudson and Manhattan Railroad) with fare of six cents listed.
Back cover has a calendar with last six months of 1925 and first six of 1926, suggesting that distribution was in the middle of the year 1925.
