Maxwell Brewings. Operation Sail Edition. July 4th, 1976.
(Maxwell House Coffee Division, Hoboken, 1976).
House organ of the Maxwell House Coffee plant in Hoboken commemorating Operation Sail '76 activities in the Hudson River. OpSail celebrated the United States Bicentennial, the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, considered as the founding of America.
Printed pamphlet, 8-1/2" x 11" high, pp. Photo illustrated. Issue date not stated, probably late July to September 1976. Two copies. PDF on file.
This factory was on the Hudson River between Tenth and Twelfth Streets. This General Foods Division set up riverside bleachers on their property for employees and families to view the parade of tall ships and other vessels (such as fireboats) along with amusements for children.
This special edition of the newsletter has only photographs (except for some congratulations on page ) of the festivities and 17 named ships in the naval parade. People are not identified.
Some excellent views of the factory buildings (but only a partial view of the "Good to the Last Drop" sign) and the site where people would not normally be assembled.
