Scope & Content Digital images of newsclipping: Hoboken, The Way It Was 37 Years Ago. Jersey Journal, June 13, 1978.

Article by Vincent J. Modero about life in 1941. He describes two photos which are printed.

Left photo: Corner of First and Clinton Streets in 1941. Mentions Herman's Housewares. (View is apparently to the southwest.) He mentions the other two corners not seen: defunct Jefferson Trust Company and Modero & Sons [author's family business], fruits and vegetables, established in 1923.)

Right photo: First Street and Willow Avenue in 1941 looking east on First towards Washington St. and City Hall. At the right, which was the southwest corner, in a low building was the Paap Studio on the first floor and Cilento's Grocery Store. Also mentioned on other corners were Gualario's Bar and Bernie's Dry Goods Shop.

Museum does not own original. See primary record archives 2005.079.0032.
