MY PRESS CONFERENCE WITH FRANK SINATRA By Jeanne Lewis

EDITORIAL

If you're still conscious, after the full impact of the cover has sunk in, give us your reactions to the new package your fave (we hope!) club paper now comes to you in, courtesy of Betsey Wenninger of Fond du Lac.

Our thanx to those of you who sent in material for The Voice. It was greatly appreciated. And now, what about the rest of you? Those of you who haven’t sent in any material for our paper, what’s the matter, don’t you care? We always thot Sinatra fans were loaded with talent, so let's see some of it break out in print.

A great problem has reared its hair-raided, and pin-curled head. To have, or not to have club chapters, that is the question.

In such cities as Philly, Ptgh., N.Y., L.A., Racine and Fond du Lac there are already enuf, nay, more than enuf club members to start chapters there. What are your feelings on this point?

And what do you think about having an official uniform for the club members to wear to Frank's broadcasts, movies and theater appearances? True, we have our club pins and we wear our bow ties, but is it enuf? Let's hear your suggestions. Another problem is, to wit, Joan Edwards.

So very many of you have written to our prexy saying in no uncertain terms that you definitely do not have fits of joy when she attempts to sing. Never have we heard one, single person say that he or she likes the aforementioned Miss Edwards. Then, why, oh, why, is she allowed on the air? When there are good singers like Helen Forrest and Lena Horne, why must she be heard? What can we do about it members? One, last word, about club dues. Many of you have not, as yet, fully paid your dues. The club is expanding so rapidly that more copies of our paper must be mimeographed, more letters must be written. We need money to do these things, so please cooperate and send in your dues.

Thanx, we knew it had only slipped your mind.

THE SINATRA CRAZE REACHES A NEW PEAK

SALIDA , COLO., JULY 2l - SWOON-CROONER, FRANK SINATRA MAY BE DUE TO JOIN THE ILLUSTRIOUS PERSONALITIES OF HISTORY WHO HAVE GEOGRAPHICAL POINTS NAMED IN HONOR OF THEM.

IT SEEMS THERE'S A MOVE AFOOT TO CHANGE THE NAME OF MOUNT CURAY, NEAR SALIDA, TO MOUNT FRANK SINATRA.

THE IDEA WAS BORN WHEN THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, AFTER A STUDY OF THE MOUNTAIN DETERMINED THAT SNOW WHICH REMAINS ON THE PEAK AFTER THE SPRING THAW ''SEEMS TO RESEMBLE THE LETTERS 'F' AND 'S'. IT APPEARS THAT THE MOVE HAS THE APPROVAL OF MORE FEMININE MEMBERS OF THE CITIZENRY THAN OF THE MALE POPULATION OF SALIDA.

FOR YOU, FRANKIE - BY CLARA Dl MARIA

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FRANKIE,

I COULD LISTEN TO YOU NIGHT AND DAY.

I'LL CRY SUNDAY. MONDAY OR ALWAYS -

AND I'LL MISS YOU IF YOU GO AWAY.

I KNOW THERE ARE SUCH THINGS AS GOOD SINGERS WHENEVER I THINK OF YOU.

AND MY HEART TELLS ME -- YOU'RE WONDERFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.

I HEAR YOUR RECORDS EVERY DAY

SO I DON'T GET AROUND MUCH ANYMORE.

NOT ONLY ARE YOU WORTH LISTENING TO,

BUT YOU'RE ALSO WORTH FIGHTING FOR.

MAYBE YOU THINK I’M KIDDING,

BUT I'M NOT—I HOPE TO DIE:

I'M TALKING THRU MY HEART TO YOU AND IT’S A SIN TO TELL A LIE.
I NEVER SAY I'M GETTING TIRED SO I CAN SLEEP WHEN YOU ARE ON THE AIR.
I'D LISTEN TO THE RADIO EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE IF I WAS SURE THAT YOU'D BE THERE.

IT ALL COMES BACK TO ME NOW.

WHEN I' HEARD YOU FOR THE FIRST TIME—THEN SAID "I'LL NEVER MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE OF MISSING YOU AGAIN".
IF YOU ARE ON THE AIR

FOR NO MATTER HOW MANY HOURS LONG,

I'LL HEAR YOUR PROGRAM ALL OR NOTHING AT ALL OR I'LL BE WITHOUT A SONG?
I WANT YOU ON THE AIR FOREVER AND A DAY NO MATTER WHAT OTHERS SAY OR DO.

'CAUSE I KNOW HOW SWEET YOU ARE AND I CAN'T STAND LOSING YOU.
well, take it easy, frankie,
YOUR FANS WILL BE EVER TRUE;
FOR WE NOT ONLY LOVE YOU FOR WHAT YOU ARE.
BUT ALSO BECAUSE YOU'RE YOU.

NEWS and VIEWS If you’d like to see your name mentioned here, send in items of interest about our boy.

The critics all liked STEP LIVELY here (Wash. D.C.) and acclaimed Frank as a good light comedian—Mary Lou Rispoli... Frank wore a tweed suit and sang I’LL BE SEEING YOU. THERE’LL BE A HOT TIME IN TEE TOWN OF BERLIN and he IEd everyone in singing THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER at the Hollywood Bowl, June 11. He was the last on the program and it was getting late, so didn’t sing anymore. I read ages ago that Frank had made a date to do some more recordings and that one side was to be his theme. I also heard that Frank had a conference with his Columbia bosses because of the chorus he has to sing with — Nancy HoImblad...Nancy Sandy is very cute. As soon as the fans start asking her how her daddy is, etc. she runs away. I guess she gets strict orders from her mother not to say anything about her daddy. Even when some of the kids were trying to take her picture, she cried and said that her mother didn’t want her picture taken. I saw Matthews, Frank's personal man. He's very nice to talk to. I saw his new baby. He's so cute. And, of course, I saw Frankie. His house has a glassed-in porch with a piano, records, etc. in it — Grace Reitz....Frank sang COME OUT. SWINGIN' ON A STAR. NIGHT AND DAY,

OLD MAN RIVER. Sat. Aug. 26 at a Youth Center Dance in N. Hollywood. He gave a lawn party the next day and wore shorts —Bev Hargreaves...The latest N.Y. rumor; Frank and Nancy are in anticipating— Ann Troiano...Mrs. Sinatra took Nancy Sandy to see STEP LIVELY and when Frank faked that faint, little Nancy got up and started yelling "Get up, daddy. Get up." Mrs. S. was soooo embarrassed!U—Janice De Witt... Write to Naval Aid Auxiliary, Autograph Dept. 8615 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood 46, Calif, and send 25c for Frank's autograph.

SINATRA DATA - By Ginnie

Hi, kids; or should I say "Slaves of Sinatra"? Anyhow, here is a column specially dedicated to the doings of the "Swoon Boy" and his family.

Frankie Boy is kept quite busy by you know who, HIS FANS, also picture work, his radio show (CBS Wed. as if you didn't know) and P. A.ing.. .But he and Nancy and the kids have a nice home located on Toluca Lake right by the Lakeside Golf Club so if Frank isn't too busy, he may get to swing a mean club at that little white ball, who knows?....He and Nancy plan to pack soon and go back East for a short stay as Frank is scheduled to P.A. at the New York Paramount Starting Oct. 11 for 3 or more weeks....You see, he and Nance plan to live 9 months out of every year in the West and the other 3 in- the East. That is why they kept their house in N.J....Frank will finish his new picture ANCHORS AWEIGH for M.G.M. before leaving for the East..., Frankie, Jr. is 8 months old and at this writing, weighs 27 pounds. He is quite the boy. Papa Frank takes care of him and his sister Nancy on Sat. mornings and does he have a time, carrying a bottle around and an extra diaper. Oh, it is quite a thing to see and his fans laugh at him, but they would love to carry that baby themselves...If you are interested in writing Frank, be sure and address it: R.K.O. Radio Pictures, Inc., Melrose and Gower, Hollywood, Calif Frank can be heard on the radio on Wed., CBS, 6:00 W.T. 8:00 C.T.; and 9:00 E.T. Also Sat. nite, CBS, on the HIT PARADE, same time as above. He can be heard sometimes on Hollywood Star Time, Mon. thru Fri., 12:15 W.T., 2:15 C.T., and 3:15 E.T.....Kids!

I listen to every program Frankie is on (try to). I have kept a list of every song he has sung on his own program since he started last Jan. 5th, so if you want a list of songs, guest stars, where program came from, etc., write c/o the president, Barbara Burns for my address and I will be glad to send it. Please include a stamp. Thanx. I also have a list of the Hit Parade songs he and the others have sung.

P.S. I have a record of Duenne and Cachita that I will trade for 1 of Sinatra that I don't have or sell it for 50c. It's by Xavier Cugat.

ITEM: They laughed when a vitamin outfit sponsored Frank: Sinatra on the radio. But Frank is a tough little guy. He once licked two fellows in Tommy Dorsey's orchestra. He was rated the scrappiest guy in (well, next to Tommy) the Dorsey Band.
