Newsclipping with obituary of John Schmalz, founder of John Schmalz & Sons Bakery, Hoboken, no place, no date, ca. early 1920s.
Schmalz founded a Hoboken bakery business in 1867 that became John Schmalz & Sons Bakery. It operated until the 1920's when it was purchased by the Continental Baking Company. This undated clipping (no evidence from text on the reverse) from a a newspaper not named gives his age as 75 at the time of his death. This clipping accompanied objects catalog 2004.051.0025, a 1905 oil portrait of him.
