Transportation ticket. Eight cents is the fare stated on the back. (Fare went from 6 to 8 cents in July 1938 for downtown travel and was in effect until 1944.)

Printed paper, two sides, 2-3/8" x 7-5/8" wide; punched for month, day and time of day. Serial number: Hob 290738. PM stub still attached; irregular tear at that end as presumed issued (torn from a coupon book.)

Printed by Rand, McNally & Company, N.Y. Coupon issued at "Lack. & Hob" which means a ticket booth at the Hoboken Terminal station of the H&M.

This coupon is evidence that eight cents has been prepaid by passenger at the JERSEY CITY or HOBOKEN, N. J., station on the date and at the time indicated hereon. It is redeemable for THREE CENTS if presented to the Company's Agent within THIRTY MINUTES AFTER PASSENGER'S ARRIVAL, by next direct or connecting train, at the Exit at ANY OTHER JERSEY CITY or HOBOKEN station ONLY. FIVE CENTS is retained by this Company as the legal fare for one local ride between any of its stations in JERSEY CITY and, or, HOBOKEN, N. J. This coupon is not good for passage, is not transferable, is not redeemable in New York, and is void if altered or defaced.
