Letterhead: American Lead Pencil Co., Executive Offices, Hoboken, N.J.; typed letter to customer, Oct. 23, 1928 responding to a customer inquiry.
Single leaf, 8-3/8" x 10-3/4" high.
The back has a printed advertisement for selected products, copyrighted 1927. The letter was to a Mr. W. H. Humphries and is not signed, but initialed in red pencil. Use of a pencil, often colored, in correspondence was a company practice.
The address of 220 Fifth Avenue, New York is overprinted in red lines and imprinted to the right of it in red is "Executive Offices, Hoboken, N.J."
The company had its principal factory in Hoboken and was located in a complex of buildings at Fifth Street and Willow Avenue.
