Scope & Content Certificate of United States Mustering Officer and Receipt for Hoboken City Bounty. Dated at Camp Parker near Trenton, N.J., Sept. 2nd, 1863.

Eleven Hoboken men were paid two hundred dollars to volunteer for enlistment in the U.S. Army for Civil War duty. They were all from the Second Ward, mustered into Company L of the 2nd New Jersey Cavalry. All received a bounty payment of two hundred dollars. (Note that the sixth column is the signature of each man which in two cases, their name was mispelled in the list that is column two.)
