Elementary Instructions for Operating the Slide rule. Mannheim type. Copyright 1928 by Keuffel & Esser Co., probably 1942-1950 printing.
Booklet, 6" x 9", 16 pages plus cover, intended for use with a beginner's slide rule such as the 4058 model (Mannheim type) made by Keuffel & Esser Co.in Hoboken. Although it states "New York" K&E manufactured in Hoboken in this period.
Cover is printed, inside front and back cover is blank; the back cover has stock/production codes at the bottom along with code "9142" over "Printed in U.S.A." Comparing to archives 2010.023.0004, note the front title typeface has been reset.
The cover title does not mention the Mannhiem type, but all other content is the same as the 1928 printing. The company often used the same typesetting for decades (as is seen in their catalogs.) Also typical of this item is that it was rolled around a slide rule and stored in the usual case thus showing creases and edge damage from being pulled in and out.
See archives 2008.012.0084 for same manual probably from about 1928-1940 with the same contents, but no cover as was the typical issue of that period.
