Photographer was Ernst Walter who produced many postcards from his photographs. The view is looking northeast. The building, also known as the Elysian Apartments or Flats, covers the entire east side of Washington Street from 12th to 13th Sts. Residents at one time in this building were Hetty Green and Thomas Wiggins (Blind Tom).

Photographer was Ernst Walter who produced many postcards from his photographs. This building burned down in the 1905 Lackawanna Terminal fire and was rebuilt, in a less grand style, on the same site. At the left is the 1897 North Hudson County Rail Road streetcar terminal. A trolley can be seen at the right.

Burger, but used the business name of George Hoffman, a name given to him by co-workers 24 years earlier. He had been in business for about ten years. In the 1924 Polk Directory, his business was then at 421 Garden St. Also a pharmacy at First and Bloomfield with the Burger name and a differing account of the 'George Hoffman' name.
