Owner - manager William Hecke. "An established landmark for over 65 years." Cover has an aerial view of the new Port Authority piers. Mentions "Erie and Delaware Lackawanna Railroads." These merged in 1960 to become the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad. Note on the back the seals of three hotel associations.

Side 1 (outside and first opening) has a photo of the exterior at First and Hudson Streets plus the Dining Room. The interior (side 2) has a photo of Joseph Samperi, proprietor. Also photographs of the Grill Room; Social Room and Lobby Double Room; (Room) With Twin Beds and Bath. Early date determined by reference to "the new Fabian [Theatre]" which opened in 1928. Printed cardstock, 3-5/16" wide x 5-1/2" high; printed in black. Not a postcard. A wealth of information about travel just prior to World War I. The date range is likely to be as stated since ocean liner passenger service essentially came to a halt in 1914 and the map on the back shows several transportation routes that were fairly recent such as the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad (although it does not show the route extending to Journal Square) and the Pennsylvania Railroad Tunnels. The Capital Valet Cleaners and Dyers lists its address as 505 Bergenline Ave., West Hoboken.

Further text printed on the front top left: "The Continental is the leading hotel of Hoboken, N.J., from which the largest European steamers depart daily." Vignettes of the Statue, Ellis Island and the hotel at the top. Bottom third has an artist's bird's-eye view of the ocean liner piers looking northwest.
