Name Church Square Park
Details Covers land from Fourth to Fifth Streets between Garden St. and Willow Avenue. Land was dedicated by Colonel John Stevens in 1804 for public use.

Current bandstand at the center of the park (also called gazebo) was erected as Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) program in the 1930s. It replaced the original fountain. Renovated several times. Rededicated in memory of John DePalma (1949-2009) in June, 2010; plaque on east side of gazebo.

Mabel Bolles Sheehan (1898-1976) was born in Hoboken August 6, 1898. Although her Hoboken memories are dated as ending in 1906, she did live here at least to 1907 when the family moved to Oneida, N.Y. (home region of her parents and other family.)
