Black-and-white photocopy of article about Boat Race Off Hoboken, June 30,1866. Source of original image not indicated. Refer to the original clipping in the files of the Hoboken Public Library. The race was between the Atalanta Club of Hoboken and the Mutual of Albany, N.Y. with six-oar crews in sculls on the Hudson River over a 3-mile course. Dinner was had at the Park Hotel, Hoboken.

Holographic pencil notes on the events pages of who finished in what place and the winning time. Members of the Association were Active Boat Club, Atlantic Boat Club, Germania Boat Club, Rosedale Boat Club and Valencia Boat Club. While most of the races were between these associations there were a few open races which other clubs participated in: Waverly Boat Club; Palisade Boat Club; Nassau Boat Club and Harlem Boat Club. Booklet, program, for Hoboken Ball, Hot Night in Havana, Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003. 5-3/8" wide x 8-1/2" high. Unpaginated, [44] pp. plus cover. 3 copies. A masked ball presented by the Hoboken Historical Museum (its second, a benefit for the museum) and the City of Hoboken, Mayor David Roberts. Event was chaired by Jane (Yana) Kizlauskas. Program designed by Claire Lukacs. "Hot Nights" logo design by Bridget Figur. Ball was held in tents on the waterfront pier at Eleventh St. and the Hudson River of the former Maxwell House Coffee plant.

Dates within the document are mostly January and February, 2004. This proposal was not the winning project.

Engraving was on cream wove paper, no watermark. See archives 2013.026.0001 for a hand-colored copy of this engraving. It is an early view of River Walk and Sybil's Cave showing a bucolic Hoboken and a placid Hudson River with three sailboats in view. Visitors are seen at the Cave and in the distance along River Walk heading towards Elysian Fields. Landscape painter Gignoux (1816-1882) was born and trained in France; active in America as part of the Hudson River School from 1840 to the 1870s. The

An original copy of this print which was originally published in Germany in an edition of Meyer's Universum by the Bibliographic Institute Hildburghausen is archives catalog 2009.006.0136. The colored print appears the same.

Back has New York postmark of Feb. 17, [18]82. No contents. If the barges were based here, it is likely the business was at pier 1 at the Hudson River or very close to it.

Card with horizontal format has a artistic view captioned "The Clermont on the Hudson River." Round vignette at each end, one being a dock with passengers boarding the Clermont to Albany and the other a portrait of Robert Fulton. Card with vertical format has artwork that depicts a woman holding the "Half Moon" {Hudson's ship] and the "Clermont" in her hands with the skyline of New York City behind her.
