Romano (reference image catalogued as photo catalog 2004.015.0001.02). On page 4, in an interview of teacher Katherine Repetto, there are two paragraphs of her recollections of the filming of "On the Waterfront." Original item was an enclosure found between leaves 23-24 of a 1949 scrapbook album of Ken Schultz of Hoboken.

Schulberg writes about Hoboken as the locale for the motion picture, "On the Waterfront." He discusses his research, people, locations along with anecdotes. Five photographs by Eliott Erwitt including a group photo of Hoboken's Public Safety Director, Arthur F. Marotta, Schulberg and Brando. Other photos include a view from the river of Newark Street, some Dutch sailors holding some movie film, the view with cannon from Castle Point and a view of the exterior of the Clam Broth House signs. All are image for reference except the Castle Point view.

The major portion of the contents is "Hoboken's Waterfront. An Essay by Sada Fretz." The inside back cover is a map with a list of 16 Hoboken locations used in the film with a thumbnail photo of the matching scene from the movie.

Qualified researchers must to the Museum director and donor for permission to use this material. Reference prints are on file. All images are available on a compact-disk and PDF. Original document consisted of 16 numbered typewritten carbon copy leaves, 8" x 11-5/8" high, of which only pages 3 to 16 were available and imaged. Mauriello, a boxer fought in several heavyweight championship bouts in the 1940's. He was a long-time friend of Frank Sinatra and Sinatra provided some support for Mauriello's boxing career. Mauriello also appeared in the motion picture, On the Waterfront, which was filmed in Hoboken as "Tullio," a waterfront union thug.
