Bills and receipts for goods and services purchased by First Church of Christ, Scientist, 829 Bloomfield Street (or addressed to the Christian Science Reading Room at 910 Washington St. which was the mailing address for the church), 1949 to 1987. Hoboken vendors (all street addresses below are in Hoboken.) Various dates and formats. The expenditures are rather ordinary, but they are documentary evidence of some businesses then present in Hoboken and how they were patronized. Most are bills of sale, statement, but occasionally accompanied by a job quote. Useful in respect in church finances and operations. Petition to Mayor and City Council of Hoboken from Bloomfield Street property owners, 600 block, re unsightly signage at 624 Bloomfield St., Sept. 22, 1898. Single folio,7-3/4" wide x 12-1/4" high, with 6" x 6-1/2 ink drawing on drafting linen attached. Property owners were distressed by large signage placed by a B. Schwarze, Carpenter and Builders at 624 Bloomfield St. and submitted an ink drawing supporting their complaint detailing the types, sizes and placement of the signs. Printed cardstock folder, 3-1/2" wide x 4-1/4" high x 1/8" thick with one blank score sheet. With: two padded blank score sheets laid-in (same format but a lighter, different paper than one in folder.) Cover depicts the Teaneck building, "Colonial Home for Service." Volk was a long-time Hoboken funeral home; the Teaneck operation was founded in 1935. Addresses for both are on the back cover. It is likely this score pad with scoring rules was a promotional advertising item primarily for the added location. ===

Foodtown operated two food supermarkets in Hoboken until ca. 1999. One was at the sourthwest corner of Seventh and Clinton Streets (now an A & P) and another two blocks away on the south side of Clinton Street between Eighth & NInth Streets (opposite the Hoboken High School.)
