Name Stevens Academy
Details More properly known as Stevens Preparatory (or Prep) School, established and located on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology; later moved to the building that was once the Martha Institute.

Merged in 1934 with Hoboken Academy and became Stevens Hoboken Academy (name is sometimes hyphenated and abbreviated as SHA.) It moved from the Martha Institute at 5th and Garden Streets to the site of the Hoboken Academy, Fifth Street and Willow Avenue, in 1935.

Closed 1974. Building demolished 1976.

Original item was found on the verso of leaf 19 of a 1949 scrapbook album of Ken Schultz of Hoboken.

In 1866 Edwin Stevens deeded land at Sixth St. and Park Avenue to German Evangelical Church and loaned church money to build a parochial school. In 1979 the Community Church of Hoboken was converting the building back to a parochial school. It was used for a time by Stevens Hoboken Academy. HOPES occupied it from July 1966 to 1968-69. The letter states " Dear Graduate, It would be wonderful to see you at the Commencement Exercises for the Class of 1974, the 114th graduating class.
