Name Yankee, ferry
Details Originally built 1907 as a civilian ferry, the Machigonne. Requisitioned by the U.S. Navy for World War I duty and named the U.S.S. Machigonne; operated in Boston harbor during the war. Returned to civilian duty. Later renamed the Yankee (circa post WWII). Operated in New York Harbor with service to Liberty Island among other duties. Probable that it did not operate from Hoboken docks. Evicted in 2006 from New York pier 25 and moved to Hoboken. Moved from pier south of Hoboken Yacht Club marina to Twelfth Street Pier on October 29, 2012. Removed from Hoboken to berth at Red Hook, Brooklyn, N.Y. on July 2, 2013.

As the Machigonne, it is listed on the National Register.

Notes: "National Registry of Important Places." (The vessel is on the National Register of Historic Places.) It is berthed in Hoboken at a pier south of 13th Street.
