View of this ocean liner of the Hamburg-American Line at their Pier No. 2 where it was interned at the start of World War I in 1914 which would be the earliest date that this postcard could have been issued.
The ship was confiscated in April 1917 by the U.S. Government and be converted to an Army troop transport ship, the U.S.S. Leviathan. It would continue to be based in Hoboken for U.S. Army Port of Embarkation and Debarkation duties.
