Trunk originally sold by Hoboken merchant, F. Dehmer, Jr., 114 Washington St., Hoboken. Trunk appears to be ca. 1890-1900. ,Cloth covered wood with metal fittings; leather end handles; 39" wide x 23" deep x 13" high. Interior cloth covered with paper detail. With lift out tray.
Pasted inside lid at center is a 1-1/2" high x 2-3/4" wide printed paper label: F. Dehmer, Jr., Trunks, Bags & Leather Goods. Harness & Horse Clothing. 114 Washington St., Hoboken. (Not established if this street number is an old or new one.)
Wood tray insert. In lower section at back are Venus Pencil packaging labels pasted to lining paper. Venus Pencils were once manufactured in Hoboken.
