Drawing tool instrument set, Doric brand, Jupiter 9406, made by Keuffel & Esser Co., no date, circa 1955-1962. Case: black leather grained cloth, 4-3/4" high x 9-5/8" wide x 1" thick; overlapping flaps with snap closures; fitted interior lined with purple velvet. Contents: flat type instruments, brass, chromium plated(?) Most major parts are stamped: K&E Co. Germany.
Exterior of case is stamped on top at lower right: K&E (logo) Doric | Jupiter | 9406. This is the only product reference. Catalog reference has not been found for this set. The Jupiter line appears to have been introduced in the late 1950s and continued even after the company left Hoboken in December 1968. The four digit product number and old-style flap case (versus the hard hinged case introduced in the 1960s) makes it likely to be late 1950s.
Keuffel & Esser Co. main office and factories were in Hoboken in the period when this item was made.
