H.H. Improved Eureka Ink Eradicator. Manufactured by H.H. Collins Ink Eradicator Company, Hoboken, N.J., U.S.A. No date, circa 1890-1910. Two piece slipcase carton with two glass bottles with cork stoppers.
Product was for home or office use on either paper or clothing with directions for each on the carton.
Outside dimensions, closed: 3" high x 2-5/8" wide x 1-1/4" deep; bottom tray for bottles, 1-3/8" high x 2-5/8" wide x 1-1/4" deep. Printed label on all surfaces of top sleeve; tray is printed inside on one side only (indicating bottle 1 and 2). Bottles are clear glass with rounded edges and short neck, 1" square x 2-1/8" high (2-5/8" with cork; corks have glass applicator rods - called wands in directions); one bottle is nearly full with a violet colored fluid, the other is empty. Composition of the chemical and condition not known. Bottom of the empty one has molded letter 'B" and number '6" at opposite corners; the one with fluid has "B" and "7." Which bottle was No. 1 or No. 2 is not apparent; if bottles were labeled, the labels are not longer present.
On the front side where there is a depiction of a hand applying the product to paper is the address of 27 Union Square, N.Y.
