Received framed as shown with attached picture light. Removed from frame; frame stored separately in frame dock.
Schmalz founded a Hoboken bakery business in 1867 that became John Smalz & Sons Bakery. It operated until the 1920's when it was purchased by the Continental Baking Company. See archives catalog 2004.051.0026 for an undated newspaper obituary with photo. He died at age 75 probably in the 1930's.
