Wood engraving, "Great Foot Race, at Hoboken, New York" from The London Times, January 11, 1845. Clipped printed engraving with clipping of related text. Holographic ink note on image: London Times.
As the text (titled: "Great Ten-Mile Foot Race in America") states, it was held at the "Beacon Course, N.J. opposite New York City, Nov. 19, 1844" not in New York (there is a Hoboken, New York, but it was not the location of this event.)
Both are mounted on black chipboard appearing to be from the late 19th century. Board is mounted in a more recent black window matte in a wood frame with glass.
