Description One dollar bank (bearer) note from the Hoboken Banking & Grazing Co., issued Sept. 5, 1826. Issued to: G. Jones.

Engraved wove paper, printed on one side only with holographic ink entries; circa 7-1/4" wide x 2-7/8" high, irregularly trimmed. Serial No.[in ink] 655.

Engraver/printer as imprinted vertically next to right vignette: A.B & C. Durand Wright & Co. (More correctly listed in records as: A.B. & C. Durand, Wright & Co., New York.) [Asher Brown Durand]

Top vignette: Benjamin Franklin studying lightning. Signed in image and below by A.B. Durand, del. or sc. The two end vignette portraits are the same and not identified or signed, but the man is is known to be Lafayette.

The Hoboken Banking and Grazing Company opposite the City of New York promise to pay [ink] G. Jones or bearer One Dollar on demand Hoboken, [ink] Sept. 5th, 18 [18 printed] 26.
