Description Novelty faux-alligator embossed brown vinyl memo pad holder from Clinton Lumber & Millwork Co., 83 Willow Ave., Hoboken, no date, ca. 1960-70. 3-1/2" wide x 5-3/8" high. Original owner not known.

Per note from donor, the object was found inside a wall at 1008 Park Ave., Hoboken, that was being renovated in 2002.

Clinton Lumber was listed in the 1965 telephone directory. The inside front cover has gilt stamped lettering listing some of their specialties. Most of the leaves in the memo pad have been used with notes concerning repairs and materials for them including some addresses (such as 921 Bloomfield St.) where work was done, prices, etc. A few personal notes include references to rent paid ($23.) and a suit at Geismar's ($13.), then a Washington Street men's clothing store.
