Brass tag stamped S.F. & Co. [S. Fisher & Company, Hoboken, N.J.] No date, circa 1902-1937. Brass plate, 7/8" square with rounded corners; stamped one side: "S.F. & Co." Two each.
S. Fisher & Company was a wholesale candy and confectionery manufacturer based in Hoboken from 1902 until it closed in 1937. The tags were from descendants of the Fisher family who did not know what they were used for.
While the purpose of these tags or tokens is not indicated or apparent, some possible uses may have been inventory control, process control or as a marker by an S. Fisher employee to identify lots being purchased for the company at wholesale markets.
